I agree to some extent, and indeed the only reason I applied was so as to be an official AOPA mentor, but to be completely fair I had acheived most of the requirements in light singles (for example flying an AA5 to Israel and into the Soviet Union) long before I was flying whizzy jets around.

I have always been a "feet of clay" pilot. I flew VIP jets because it was fun and different, but it was only an extension of the other stuff I have done before and since, and it only accounted for five of my 36 years of aviation.

So there!

I do have them somewhere. Happy to watch you fly in cloud any time...you are one of my success stories!

Despite apparent loftiness, actually still rooted in the mud that everyone rakes around it...sort of.

Late July / August / early September Awards

Apologies for delay in sharing this information with all – other commitments have left me with too little time to commit to my AOPA duties properly…..

Bronze Wings have been awarded to:
 Paul Greatrex (17th July)
 Jonathan Mark Batchelor (24th July)
 Peter Treble (21st August)
 Gerry Stone (30th August)
Congratulations gentlemen! Silver Wings are not far away!!

Gold Wings have been awarded to:
 Stephen Niechcial (11th September)
Well done Stephen!

Hopefully the current weather will provide opportunities for a few more awards before winter weather slows things down.

 A reminder to any post-bronze pilot looking to move up a level, but missing qualifying seminars:

The second Military Civil Air Safety Day for 2007 is scheduled for 28th September at RAF Wattisham. Pat Malone and I will be attending – please come and say hello if you’re there!

Mmmmm perhaps I should get around to applying for my platinum wings.

Is the new application form finished Mark?

And does service to the MWG and IRWG count as seminar attendance?

No, final amendments being made as we speak - but there's no reason you can't use the old form Steve; the Wings you'll receive will be just the same!

Late Sep / October / November Awards

Someone is letting the side down here!! Another late update due to work commitments and holiday; apologies for delays in updating...

Bronze Wings have been awarded to:
 Stephen Currell (19th September)
 Christopher Gunn (25th September)
 Mr G F Salerno (13th November)
Congratulations gentlemen! Silver Wings in 2008?

Silver Wings go to:
 Martin Jones (25th September)
Well done Martin!

No Gold Wings this time, but I’m very pleased to announce that…

Platinum Wings have been awarded to:
 Steve Copeland (31st October)
Many congrats Steve!

With winter now upon us I expect applications will slow down a little – though this might provide some good opportunities for Night / IMC training, Instructor certification etc…. always another opportunity to add another skill!!

However you progress, and whatever you’re doing, have a great Christmas - Next Wings update early 2008.

Cheers!
